When talking about the participatory web and culture, the most concrete way people interact is through "like" functions, and comments. However, these functions aren't really connected and the vast majority of contributions are lost. Past open data, with semantic web features like Facebook open graph, semantic analysis from all the major search engines, and embedded semantics such as Microformats and RDFa, structured, re-usable communications may be the most important and representative venue we'll see.
